Nikita Thakrar has been nominated for the ‘Asian Women of Achievement Awards 2008’. The event held on 20th May 2008, was a spectacular celebration of successful women in the UK. Celebrities who made an appearance included Liz Hurley, Cherie Blaire and the cast of Goodness Gracious me who were there to support Nina Wadia who was also nominated for an award.
Nikita was nominated for the ‘Young Achiever of the Year’ award, which recognised her outstanding achievements at such a young age as a solo artist, dance teacher and successful business woman. Results were announced on the Tuesday evening at the glitzy awards ceremony held at Park Lane's Hilton Hotel.
Unfortunately Nikita did not take the award home this time, but was announced as a high achieving candidate who the judges look forward to seeing again in the future. Students and supporters who have been involved in the company's rapid progression since 2005, are proud of Nikita to even have been short listed to win such award.
SCHOLARSHIP:
It has been announced that Nikita Thakrar is the first dance teacher in the UK to be awarded a national traveling scholarship. This scholarship which has been awarded to her by Milapfest, a south asian dance organisation will give her access to travel to India for her own training and development. Everyone at the Dancing Nikita Company will be sad to say farewell to her as she leaves to go to India for a few months, but are proud of her achievement.
ASIAN ACHIEVERS AWARD 2008:
Nikita has been short listed for the 'Media art and culture award' in the Asian Achievers Award. The ceromony will be held at the Raddison Hotel, Portman Square, London on Wednesday 3rd December 2008. This will be the second award she has been nominated and short listed for this year. Everyone at the Dancing Nikita Company are keeping their fingers crossed!
